Tommie
Doyal Collins was born on January 27, 1957 in Mason, Tennessee to
the loving union of John and Ruby (nee Terry) Collins. As a toddler,
Tommie moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio.
After completing his high school studies, Tommie
furthered his education by taking college courses. He also
participated in boxing and had earned a lightweight division
championship during the 1980’s. For many years, Tommie was employed
as a Care Provider in the Community Re-Entry Program of the Lutheran
Metropolitan Ministries here in Cleveland.
Tommie was an outgoing man with a sunny and
magnetic personality and a heart of gold. He loved people,
especially children, and always liked to involve everyone in
activities. Tommie was funny and loved telling jokes and you could
always count on him being late for everything!
On Saturday July 12, 2008, Tommie departed this
life. He is preceded in death by his father John and by his sister
Sylvia.
Those left to mourn and to cherish his memory
include his wife, Patricia Collins; son, Terrence Stokes of Akron,
OH as well as stepchildren Dairmist Moorer, Jodie Davis, Nija Moorer,
Ronald Moorer, Tarist Moorer and Tomeka Moorer, all of Cleveland,
OH; his mother, Ruby Collins of Cleveland, OH; sisters, Linda Reed,
Sharon Collins (Michael), Katie Collins (Sherard), Rhonda Collins
and Pattie Collins (Wayne), all of Cleveland, OH; brother, Ernest
Collins (Tira); six stepgrandchildren; as well as a host of other
loving relatives and friends.
