
Addie Davis was the sixth child born to
the union of Howard B. Harding and Bertha Clemmons Harding on
October5, 1919 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death
by her husband, both her parents, her three sisters, Lucille,
Christine and Rachel, and two brothers Harold and Melvin.
Addie graduated from Grade School 56 as
well as Crispus Attucks High School. She met and married James A.
Davis on May 6, 1949, and to this union no children were born,
although a Goddaughter, Mrs. Corriel Mann became the child they
never had. Addie and her husband left Indianapolis and came to
Cleveland seeking a better life. She became a member of Everlasting
Baptist Church and was a faithful member, until her illness
prevented her
Mrs. Davis enjoyed cooking and
barbequeing for her family in the summer. She was a loving and
nurturing parent and grandparent to the Mann family. She truly
believed in taking care of family. Addie was a devoted caregiver to
the Adelman family for forty two years. She was an excellent
seamstress. She was a member of The Card Circle. They rotated
homes, so that each member would have a chance to host their
favorite game, Tonk. On her visits home to Indiana, she would enjoy
playing Pokeno with her family.
Mrs. Addie Davis leaves to mourn her
passing; two daughters, Mrs. Corriel Mann (joe), Ms. Cecelia
Marshall, one step-son, Norman (Vivian), seven grandchildren,
Latrreasa, La Nisha, Joseph Jr., Kia, Norman Jr., Charlene, and
Donnie, four great grandchildren, Darren, D’Hante, Daisja, and
Matthew, and a loving caregiver, Ms. Loretta Williams. Also nieces
and nephews; Kendra Ford and Family, Helen and James Edwards and
Family, Felton and Benita Harding and Family, Jamaine Harding,
Phillip S. Harding, Adam James, James Douglas, all in Indianapolis,
Indiana; Trachelle Adams, Dallas, TEXAS; Bridgette and Bright
Alawura and Family, Charleston, West Virginia; Phillip B. and
Sandra Harding and Family, Nashville, Tennessee. Her extended
family includes Terry, Sheldon, Wendy and Joel.
