Edna
Brock Harris was born May 2, 1933 in Lincoln, Alabama to the late
James Brock, Sr. and Clara Embry Brock. Edna was the third child
born to this union.
Edna was
baptized at an early age after accepting Jesus Christ as her Saviour
at Abenezar Baptist Church in Ragland, Alabama, where she grew up as
a child.
Edna was
educated in the St. Clair County School District. She later moved to
Cleveland and graduated from John Hay High School. After graduating
from Metropolitan School of Nursing, she worked there for a short
time and later became employed by Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was
employed until she retired.
Edna met
the love of her life, Rufus Harris in 1951 and they united in Holy
matrimony in November 1952. To this union God blessed them with six
children. Michael preceded her in death at an early age.
Edna
joined Omega Baptist Church in 1982 under the leadership of Pastor
Benjamin G. Finney. She served faithful on every and all auxiliaries
of the church with a few exceptions, the Usher Board and of course
not the choir.
On
Friday, June 6, 2008, Edna departed this life. Edna leaves to
cherish her memories a loving and caring husband, Deacon Rufus
Harris; five children, Larry (Joyce) Harris, Darryl (Toni) Harris,
Debora Speed, Keith Harris, and André (Kylane) Harris all of
Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Ophelia Brock; one aunt, Bernice
