
Oscar
Lee Harris, known as “Uncle Pap”, was born on October 2, 1924 in
Union Springs, Alabama to the union of Leonard and Carrie (nee
Lewis) Harris.
He confessed Christ
at an early age and received his school education while in Alabama.
On August 19, 1943,
Oscar entered the U.S. Army where he served until receiving an
Honorable Discharge on March 28, 1944.
Oscar returned to
Alabama where he met and married Johnnie Harris. The couple later
moved to Detroit, Michigan where Oscar gained employment at Ford
Motors. After many years of service to the company, Oscar retired
from Ford Motors.
Oscar was a very
energetic person who liked music, fishing, and all kinds of sports.
He also loved to dance and had a very pretty smile.
On Wednesday January
6, 2010, Oscar departed this life. He is preceded in death by his
wife, parents, brothers, sister and sister-in-law.
Those left to mourn
and to cherish his memory include a host of nieces, which include
his devoted caregiver Jo Richardson; nephews; great-nieces;
great-nephews; cousins; friends; as well as stepdaughter, Glenda
Perry, and her son.
