Albert Haygood, III
was born on September 24, 1941 in Leeds, Alabama and was the second
of seven children born to the union of Albert and Bernice (nee
Thomas) Haygood, II. He accepted Christ at an early age and was
baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
At 15 years of age,
Al moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he graduated from Glenville High
School. On July 2, 1964, after high school, he was drafted into the
United States Army and was Honorably Discharged two years later on
June 26, 1966.
Al worked at the
Chrysler Twinsburg Stamping Plant. He was a tireless worker and
retired from there in 2007 after forty-one years of service.
Al always
demonstrated concern and care for others. He was known for his soft
smile and warm personality; he showed love to everyone - young and
old. He adored his loving wife, Margaret. Nothing was too good for
Margaret if Al wanted her to have it. Even Margaret could not stop
him. Their two children, Quintero and LaKeithia, felt this love in
many ways. His siblings, nieces and nephews were also the
beneficiaries of his caring spirit and acts of kindness. Al was
truly a family man.
Al enjoyed
gardening, fishing, traveling and Christmas shopping for his
grandchildren.
He joined Mt Nebo
Baptist Church and became a staunch supporter. He loved the Lord
and his church. He accepted the job of van driver on Sunday
mornings and was fit for such a job. Patience was one of his
virtues.
On Monday, May 24,
2010, Al departed this life. He is preceded in death by his parents
as well as by two sisters, Joyce Williams and Barbara Gandy.
