 Jackson, Katherine

Katherine Powers Jackson was born August 28, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Benjamin and Madie Powers.  She was the fifth child of seven.  Katherine confessed Jesus Chris as her Savior at an early age at Liberty Hill Baptist Church.  As an adult she Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church.  In the late 90's she joined Olivet Institutional Baptist Church.

Katherine was educated in the Cleveland Public School System.

After graduating from Jane Addams High School, she began working at Bamberg Rethal Sweater Factory.  She was also employed at University Hospitals, The US Post Office, Ben's Quality Cleaners and Vocational Guidance Services, where she retired from after over 10 yeas of employment.

In the blessed year of 1949, Katherine was joined in marriage to Lawrence Jackson who preceded he in death.  Katherine was a loving, caring and devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Each one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren held a "special" place in her heart.  There wasn't anything that they needed or wanted that she wouldn't provide.  She loved her family dearly.  She was always a hard worker.  She had a sweet, sweet personality and a "huge" heart that she shared with all.  To know her was to love her.  She was always giving a helping hand.

Katherine will not be in God's Kingdom alone.  She will be with her parents, Benjamin and Madie Powers; her husband, Lawrence;  three brothers, James, Benjamin Jr., John;  and one sister, Lillian, and other relatives.

Katherine grew weary and God stepped in, cradled her in his arms and said "Rest My Child" at 8:36am Wednesday April 2, 2008.  She leaves to cherish her precious memories and pearls of wisdom her children, John, Jeanne, Jacqueline (Ernest Jr.), and Remel; the jewels of her life, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; one brother, George; one sister Mamie; two sister-in-law, Bernice Bennett and Helen Franklin, both of Detroit.
