
Dorothy
Mae Jones was born on July 8, 1929 in Premier, West Virginia to Tude
and Luvenia Witherspoon. While living in West Virginia, Dorothy
received her education and graduated from Kimball High School. In
addition, she accepted Christ into her life as her Lord and Savior.
At the age of eighteen, Dorothy moved to Cleveland, Ohio in search
of employment.
Her journey led her
to Sarasota, Florida where she met and married Harry Lee Jones. To
that union two children were born – Carolyn Marie and Harry Jr. She
also had two additional children, Constance and Steven.
Dorothy worked at
Silverman’s Department Store for over forty years where she made
many friends. In her spare time, she was very active with the
Kimball High School Alumni Association until failing health made it
no longer possible for her to participate.
On Friday, June 20,
2008, Dorothy departed this life. She is preceded in death by her
parents; husband, Harry Jones; son, Steven; sisters, Martha Crank
and Delores Branch; as well as by her brother, Donald Mack
Witherspoon.
Those left to mourn
her passing and to cherish her memories include her children,
Constance (James) Westley, Sr., Carolyn Holmes, and Harry Jones,
Jr., all of Cleveland, Ohio; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one
great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a host of
cousins, one very special niece and one nephew; other loving
relatives and friends.
