
Deacon
Robert L. Kyles was born 11 September 1929 to the late Gus and
Arrena (Willis) Kyles in Carrollton, Georgia. He committed his
life to Christ at an early age and united with the Shiloh Baptist
Church in Carrollton, Georgia. His mother gave him the
nickname, "Robie" as a child.
Deacon Kyles was a Sergeant in the
United States Army and fought in World War II and the Korean War
between 1946-1958.
Deacon Kyles met his soulmate and life
partner, Lurline Kyles; five children were born into this union:
Jimmy Lee Hicks, Carrie Smith, Charles Scott, Ruthie Mae Brock and
Howard Scott. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio and Lurline
and Deacon Kyles were united in holy matrimony on March 13, 1963.
The following year, the two joined True Missionary Baptist Church
under the leadership of the late Rev. W. T. Austin. He served
on the Deacon Board, at True Missionary Baptist Church, for thirty
years; he also served the Inter-church Council for eight
years; and, he served his communicaties: Glenville and
Bratenahl.
He leaves to cherish his memories,:
twelve grandchildren: Eric Barkley of Wilmington, Delaware, Veronica
Brock, Necole Brock, Kimberly Campbell, Elaine Cheatwood, Lysa
Cooper, Sherrile Hicks, Annette Hicks of Birmingham, Alabama, Jimmy
Owens, Reginald Scott of Atlanta, Georgia, Garren Scott, Charles
Scott, and Monique Scott; one brother, John Willie Kyles; four
sisters-in-law: Ruby Cole, Doris Smith, Irene Kyles, and Dora Kyles;
great-grandchildren; great great grandchildren; a host of nieces,
nephews, God children; and many relatives and friends.
