James
Lawrence Jr. was born August 13, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to the
union of James and Maude Lawrence. He attended the Cleveland Public
School System and after graduation, he pursued a career in the
United States Army. After his enlistment term ended, he chose to
become a successful sole proprietor acquiring J. and L.
Delicatessen.
James, commonly known as “Scooter” - a nickname he acquired as a
young child, was a very entertaining person. His wit and humorous
stories could hold your attention for hours. His slim physique did
not show his huge good stature in nature as well as his love for
food - particularly sweets. His huge stature also made him a real
stand-up person for what was right and wrong. He loved to spend his
past time watching sporting events of all types and playing
dominoes. He was also an avid fisherman spending whatever time he
could on boats enjoying his favorite past time. Even if you came
across him for a brief moment you would not forget him and would
swear you’ve known him all of your life. Everyone knew him as a
“great guy”.
James “Scooter” Lawrence Jr. entered into rest on Tuesday January 5,
2010 and is preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to mourn and continue to cherish his memories include his
children, James (Maria)Sims, Jermaine (Gabriell) Vaughn, Rita
Woolridge, Antoine Tucker, Andre Tucker, LaTanya Edwards, Jamille
Tucker, Sam Saunders, Eric Belk and Lavina Harris; his siblings,
Pearl Solomon, Sarah Jordan, Linda Lawrence, Shirley Collier, and
Dolores Lawrence; as well as a host of other loving relatives and
friends.
