Emanuel
LeVell, Jr. was born on September 8, 1949 in Spring Garden, Alabama
to the union of Annie and Emanuel Levell, Sr. In 1953, Emanuel
moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio where he was educated in
the Cleveland Public School System and attended East High School.
Emanuel entered into a loving relationship with Rosenda Claudio and
to their union Maribel LeVell was born. The family also included
Rosenda’s two other children, Maria Claudio and Migna DeJournette,
who Emanuel also helped to raise.
In the mid-1970’s, Emanuel moved to Chicago, Illinois where he
gained employment with Western and Southern Life Insurance Company.
He later returned home to Cleveland to be close to family and for
the last 15 years was a dedicated employee at Erico in Solon, Ohio.
Emanuel was quiet and pretty much kept to himself. However, he was
an avid antique car collector and liked riding around town in his
cars. He also enjoyed football and basketball games. He would
travel out of town to games and would spend plenty of time on long
distance calls with family members discussing his teams’
performance!
Emanuel was baptized at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church and
sought the Lord daily. On December 1, 2009, after 60 years of life
on earth, Emanuel went home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in
death by his father, Emanuel LeVell, Sr., as well as by Rosenda
Claudio.
