

Robert Lyons,
affectionately known as “Bobby” and “Big Rob”, was born on October
18, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to Nellie Lyons and Jasper Howard. He
was the oldest boy of nine children.
Robert accepted
Christ into his life at an early age and graduated from the
Cleveland Public School System.
In 1970, Robert met
Gussie Mae Howard. The couple married in 1981 and were together for
twenty-seven years prior to her passing in 1997.
From 1972 to 1993,
Robert was employed at Honeywell as a Security Guard. From 1993 to
2000, he worked in the area of maintenance at Union Miles Housing
Network and from 2002 until his retirement in 2008 due to illness,
Robert worked in the combined areas of security and maintenance for
CMHA.
He loved to shoot
pool and to fish. He also loved to fix anything that he could and
was called the “Fix It Man”.
On Friday February 5,
2010, Robert departed this life. He is preceded in death by his
parents, by his sister Mary Lyons Stewart, as well as by his wife
Gussie Mae.
Those left to mourn
and to cherish his memories include brothers and sisters, Veter “Ed”
(Carol) Edwards, Julia Coleman, Diana Smith, David Edwards, Hadiha
Jibir, Joseph Edwards and Clarence Edwards; children, Reginald,
Joseph, Cassandra (Jerry) and Frederick; eleven grandchildren;
nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a host
of other relatives and friends.
