
Gregory Phillip Smith
was born September 9, 1955 at Mt Sinai Hospital to the late Joseph
Pollard and Dorthy L. Smith in Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in
death by his grandparents Evan Boyd and Mary E. Boyd.
Greg received Christ
at an early age and was blessed with many talented gifts. He
obtained his GED prior to enlisting in the United States Army in
1972 at the age of 16. After completing his service commitment he
returned home with an Honorable Discharge. He began his career at
Peterson Nut Company. Greg was affectionately known by many as "SMITTY".
Although his main
hobby was repaing cars, he also enjoyed listening to his favorite
artist Chaka Khan. He also enjoyed repairing the homes of family
and friends and was the neighborhood handy man. Greg loved to
cookout and hang with family.
He was united in
marriage with Yvonne Harvey April 18, 1975.
Greg enjoyed spending
time with family and friends.
Greg leaves to
cherish five sons, Gregory P. Smith Jr, Louis R. Smith (Maryland),
Michael L. Smith, Deante Smith and Lincoln Smith (California); two
daughters, Lakisha Hasan-Rowe and Jocelyn Smith (North Carolina);
one brother Michael L. Smith; three grandsons, Mario Darby Jr.
(North Carolina), Rishawn Rowe, and Ramone Miller; three
granddaughters, Airreonna White Smith (North Carolina), Danazea
McKenzie and Aminah G. Smith; two nieces, Artavia L. Hardwick and
Tiffany D. Smith; and a host of extended family and friends.
