Loretta
Brashers Thomas, was born on August 13, 1941 in Morris Chapel,
Tennessee as an only child to the union of R.C. Brashers (deceased)
and Lucy (nee Cawthorn) Brashers. She resided and attended public
school in Tennessee until her family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in
1954, where she continued her education in the Cleveland Public
School System.
Loretta professed her hope and beliefs
in Christ at an early age and in her years of healthy vibrancy she
was a member and attended the Lively Hope Missionary Baptist Church
in Cleveland, Ohio. She was employed with the Cleveland Heights
Public School System in the Food Services Department.
Loretta met and married James Hardin Sr.
and from this union three children were born; Theresa, James Jr.,
and Anthony. Later in life she met a loving companion, Willie
Rogers, in which one son was born, Jurwan. She also embraced two
stepdaughters Arlinda and Denise Rogers, and one stepson, Steve
Rogers. Willie Rogers preceded Loretta in life and she later met
and married O. T. Thomas who also preceded her in arriving in the
Lord’s heavenly kingdom.
Affectionately known as “Retta T” she
enjoyed casino trips, playing cards, and vacationing. Loretta lived
life to the fullest spending quality time with her friends and
family and loving them all.
Monday, March 01, 2010 Loretta was
surrounded by her loved ones as the Lord came and gracefully
received her unto Himself. Waiting for her arrival was her father
R. C. Brashers, her son Anthony Hardin, a brother Marion Scriven, a
sister Beatrice Carter, and her niece/daughter Fredreca L.
Caldwell. All who preceded her in arriving in the Lord’s heavenly
kingdom.
She leaves to cherish her memory a
loving mother, Lucy (Marion) Scriven; brother, Stevie (Paulette)
Scriven; daughter, Theresa (Butch) Williams; two sons, James
(Billie) Hardin and Jurwan Hardin; two stepdaughters Arlinda and
Denise Rogers; one stepson Steve Rogers; eleven grandchildren,
