
Henry
Harold Wade, Jr. was born on May 29, 1931 in Americus, Georgia to
the union of Henry Harold and Mattie (Raines) Wade.
Henry received
his education in Georgia and had later gained employment as a
Funeral Attendant at John L. Barnum Funeral Home where he learned
all phases of the business.
He entered into
a loving relationship with Bertha Daniels and to their union,
Patricia was born. In 1952, he married Essie Mae Clark and their
union grew to include Donald, Sandra, Juanita, Cheryl, Brenda, and
Dorothy.
On November 20,
1952, Henry entered the U.S Army. On September 23, 1954, he was
Honorably Discharged from military service and returned to Georgia.
In 1956, he
moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he was united in Holy Matrimony to
Ada and to their union, four children were born - Debra, Harold,
Henry III and Tabatha.
Henry accepted
Christ into his life and after moving to Cleveland had attended
services at Temple Baptist Church and later joined Ebenezer Baptist
Church. He moved his membership to Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church
where he had served on the Usher Board and was a Praise Team
Singer. He was an avid reader of the Bible and a faithful member of
his church until his passing.
Henry worked in
the construction industry having started with Sherman & Schneider
Construction and later retiring from Margus Construction. In order
to keep active during retirement, Henry worked as a School Crossing
Guard for the City of Cleveland.
On Monday, April
5, 2010, Henry departed this life. He is preceded in death by his
wife, Ada; his parents; as well as by his daughter Juanita McMillan.
Those left to
mourn and to cherish his memory include his children, Patricia
Allen, Donald (Shirley) Wade, Sandra (Bruce) Taylor, Cheryl
(Jonathan) Artis, Brenda (Aubrey) Epps, Dorothy (Jason) Wallace,
Debra (Tommy) Shaw, Harold Kenneth (Brenda) Wade, Henry Harold (Brandie)
(Wendy) Wade III, and Tabatha Wade (Louis) Collier; one brother,
Robert Henry Brown, Jr.; two sisters, Claretha Brown Light and
Acquanetta Brown Buges; one sister-in-law, Julia Smith; twenty-one
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other
loving relatives and friends.
