 Youngblood, Maurice

Maurice Youngblood, the sixth of eight children, was born on December 17, 1934 in Fairfield, Alabama to the union of Henry and Eva (nee Powell) Youngblood.

Maurice was a graduate of Fairfield Industrial High School and later served in the U. S. Navy.  In 1955, Maurice moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he united in holy matrimony to Pearl Wisdom.  To their union, three children were born – Ronald Maurice, Natalie, and Pamela.

Maurice worked for Celetex which was later renamed The Johns Mansfield Company.  He was also employed as an assembly line worker for the General Motors Corporation from which he retired after 24 years of service.

Maurice was particular about how things should be done and usually they had to be done his way!  He was a master at spinning stories about himself and others that always made people laugh!  He was impeccable in his manner of dress and very neat and organized in the care of his home and personal possessions.  In addition, he was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals and entertaining his family and friends.  Maurice also enjoyed watching televised sports, especially baseball and football games.

On Thursday, April 22, 2010, Maurice passed away after a lengthy illness.  He is preceded in death by his wife Pearl; son, Ronald Maurice; his parents; as well as five siblings.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Natalie Youngblood and Pamela Youngblood Grays (Terry); five grandchildren, Stephaun, (Shelly) Youngblood, Aaron (Tiffany) Sales, Morris Grays, Eric Grays, and Frederick Austin; three great grand children, Zaccheaus, Aerion, and Chase; a loving sister, Vera Burke of Tampa, Florida; a devoted brother, Henry (Ruby) Youngblood of Richmond, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

Maurice will surely be missed by all who knew him.
