
Maurice
Youngblood, the sixth of eight children, was born on December 17,
1934 in Fairfield, Alabama to the union of Henry and Eva (nee
Powell) Youngblood.
Maurice
was a graduate of Fairfield Industrial High School and later served
in the U. S. Navy. In 1955, Maurice moved to Cleveland, Ohio where
he united in holy matrimony to Pearl Wisdom. To their union, three
children were born – Ronald Maurice, Natalie, and Pamela.
Maurice
worked for Celetex which was later renamed The Johns Mansfield
Company. He was also employed as an assembly line worker for the
General Motors Corporation from which he retired after 24 years of
service.
Maurice
was particular about how things should be done and usually they had
to be done his way! He was a master at spinning stories about
himself and others that always made people laugh! He was impeccable
in his manner of dress and very neat and organized in the care of
his home and personal possessions. In addition, he was an excellent
cook and enjoyed preparing meals and entertaining his family and
friends. Maurice also enjoyed watching televised sports, especially
baseball and football games.
On
Thursday, April 22, 2010, Maurice passed away after a lengthy
illness. He is preceded in death by his wife Pearl; son, Ronald
Maurice; his parents; as well as five siblings.
He
leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Natalie Youngblood and
Pamela Youngblood Grays (Terry); five grandchildren, Stephaun,
(Shelly) Youngblood, Aaron (Tiffany) Sales, Morris Grays, Eric
Grays, and Frederick Austin; three great grand children, Zaccheaus,
Aerion, and Chase; a loving sister, Vera Burke of Tampa, Florida; a
devoted brother, Henry (Ruby) Youngblood of Richmond, Indiana; and a
host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
Maurice
will surely be missed by all who knew him.
